FIXIT Project Meeting
FIXIT (“Scaled FerroelectrIc X-bars for AI-driven sensors and
actuaTors”) is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action (Grant
Agreement 101135398), now framed within the Chips Joint Undertaking
(Chips JU) ecosystem running from 1 Nov 2023 to 30 Apr 2027, with a
total EU contribution of about €3.86M and coordinated by NaMLab
(Germany).
The project aims to develop an ultra-low-power, ferroelectric-based
memory and computing technologies for energy-efficient AI-driven
electronic systems. In particular, FIXIT focuses on nanoscale
ferroelectric devices (down to 20 nm x 20 nm) capable of multi-level
information storage, and on integrating them into dense crossbar
(“X-bar”) arrays to enable efficient and highly parallel AI-relevant
operations.
To achieve this, FIXIT builds on CMOS-compatible ferroelectric
materials, such as hafnium-based and wurtzite-based ferroelectrics, and
brings together expertise covering materials and device fabrication,
integration, measurements, modeling, circuit design, and system-level
demonstrations.
