1st symposium on "Vibration Fatigue and Related Topics" - In celebration of the 40° anniversary of Turan Dirlik’s thesis

TURAN DIRLIK’S METHOD It has been forty years already from the publication of Turan Dirlik’s Ph.D. thesis in 1985. The thesis presented the celebrated formula for the rainflow range probability distribution. Since then, Dirlik’s formula – thanks to its accuracy – has gained a growing recognition by the scientific community. Even today, despite decades of research studies, his formula remains a reference for scholars dealing with vibration fatigue and related fields. THE SYMPOSIUM This symposium aims to gather the scientific community to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Turan Dirlik’s method, by recognising his outstanding contribution in the field of vibration fatigue. A ceremony will take place during the gala dinner. TOPICS Symposium topics include, but are not limited to: 1. Vibration fatigue and spectral methods 2. Structural integrity assessment with random and variable amplitude loadings 3. Health monitoring and fault detection 4. Fatigue Damage Spectrum (FDS) 5. Shaker testing and control 6. Mission synthesis and test tailoring IMPORTANT DATES 1. Abstract submission: March 15th, 2025 April 15th, 2025 2. Notification of acceptance: April 15th, 2025 3. Deadline for speakers’ registration and payment: May 31st, 2025 4. Opening of registration for non-speaker participants: To be decided (after May 31st, depending on availability of spots). ABSTRACT SUBMISSION Abstracts (2 pages max.) should be written according to the template available at https://cism.it/en/activities/courses/J2502/, and submitted as PDF and WORD documents to the following email: vibfatigue@cism.it Abstracts will be delivered at the symposium. FULL PAPER SUBMISSION (OPTIONAL) The scientific contributions presented at the symposium can be submitted as full papers (8 pages maximum) to be collected as proceedings in a CISM-Springer book (indexed in WoS and Scopus) published after the symposium. Details on the submission process will be provided at the symposium. The publication of the book is conditional to the number submitted and accepted articles. There is no guarantee that the book will be published till the conference.
